CITIZEN'S PARTICIPATION FORUM

The Local Inter-Neighbourhood Colloquium on residents' proposals on public safety in each neighbourhood has taken place. The summary of the Working Groups' proposals was presented at the Mixed Working Commission's constitutional meeting (experts-professional-residents) on the 18th of May when an Integral Public Safety and Neighbourhood Management System which aims to respond to all the needs and proposals was analysed.

Residents, business owners, professionals and public agents attended the Mixed Working Group's meeting, bringing a variety of views, opinions and contributions on the proposals presented and especially on the model being developed.

All this led to the Regional Meeting on Public Safety in a Diverse Society on the 21st of June, where a series of principles and guidelines on public safety adapted to a complex, technological and constantly changing society, such as that of Madrid, were defined. Finally, this was combined with the results of the meetings held in various countries across the world at the International Conference which will take place during the International Congress on Public Safety in a Diverse Society (19 to 22 October 2011, see below).

CITIZENS' PARTICIPATION PROGRAMME and PANEL OF EXPERTS

Following the Inter-neighbourhood Residents Meeting discussing citizens' proposals for safety in each neighbourhood, the summary of the Working Groups' proposals was presented at the Mixed Working Commission's (experts-professionals-citizens) constituting meeting on the 18th of May. During this meeting they analyzed an Integral Public Safety and Neighbourhood Management System which aims to meet the needs and proposals provided by citizens, professionals and experts.

All of this was then brought to the Regional Meeting on Public Safety in a Diverse Society on the 21st of June where the members defined a series of guidelines and principles on public safety adapted to a complex, technological and constantly changing society such as that in the centre of Madrid.

The results of all the meetings converged during the International Conference which took place during the International Congress on Public Safety in a Diverse Society (19-22 October 2011).
